Jeremiah turned around in fear to escape in the other direction, however he then stood in front of Mad Hatter and Scarecrow who had followed him, whereon he turned around once again only to be confronted by Jerome who was hiding behind a corner and now held him at gunpoint. After he has come to a conclusion, Tetch tells Jim that the woman he loves will die.

Gordon names Lee but Tetch, thinking that he named Lee because he loves Valerie, shoots Valerie in the stomach. When Gordon, Bullock and Oswald turn up, Nygma threatens to kill Tetch with the grenade if they try to trick him.

Once doing so, she goes to kiss him but Tetch rejects her saying he has another, much to the amusement of the crowd, and Barbara's psychotic side erupts. Following Alice's death, Jervis began to show clear signs of mental instability when he led a crusade against Gotham City and was willing to endanger the lives of innocent people due to the pain of Alice's death, making clear that her being alive was the only thing that keeping him somewhat in check with reality. He then changes the question, telling Gordon to name not whom he loves but whom he wants Tetch to kill. The next evening, Tetch once more performs in The Sirens, this time hypnotizing Barbara who has taken a liking to his show. As she walks in, he hints that he wants to "unlock" her, or in other words infect her. The Tweeds and their group later walk into the GCPD, attacking policemen with their bare hands.
